BRAAS donates £1900 to local good causes and thanks sponsorsThe 2007 Real Ale Festival was all but a memory but there was two final duties to perform:-
Presentation to Sponsors of Commemorative TankardsSponsors of the 2007 Real Ale Festival were invited to join BRAAS for a pie and a pint (of real ale, of course) at the Riverview Bar, 16 Church Wynd, Bo'ness at 7.00pm on Monday 28th July 2008 for the presentation.
Over a third of sponsors attended and heard how their support contributes both to the success of the festival, each year, and to the local community. Rob Willox, chairman of BRAAS thanked them for their past support and highlighted how it contributes to the wider community and said ?BRASS goes from strength to strength each year and it only with the support of our sponsors are we able to support other groups and organisations in Bo'ness. Donations are primarily directed at children and young people's groups and we are particularly pleased to be able to donate a total of ?1900 this year to 4 very good causes. Many sponsors have already expressed their support for this year's festival and we all look forward to another enjoyable and successful event?. Commitment to local communityThe 3rd Bo?ness Scouts received £800. towards towards hand holds, mats and other associated equipment allowing them to construct a climbing wall in the Scout Hall. The Bo'ness Guides group also received £800. They will use it to cover the costs of a trip, they had already planned, to take all the Guides, Brownies and Rainbows to the Science Museum in Glasgow. The donation will cover the cost of transport, entrance and a meal without having to ask for covering costs from families. Woman's Refuge. Again this year a donation of £200 was given to the local woman?s refuge to help them in their work with women and children who have found it necessary to leave the family home for shelter from pressures. CHAS. BRAAS also made a donation to the Children's Hospice but not directly. A local 9 year old girl who's younger brother attended the hospice, and unfortunately eventually died, undertook a 12K sponsored walk in support of CHAS and it was decided that this was a fitting tribute and sponsored her for £100 Sponsors 2007 (alphabetical order)3D Developments
